All the Little Things

As usual we’ve been up to loads of creative things – finishing gardens, furniture restoration, art projects, preparing for Miranda’s 16th birthday, attending the Lady Gaga concert, curating for the shop – I have to say, it looks and smells beautiful in our design studio!

We also  finally launched the new blog format! We’ll be adding a few new pages in the coming weeks with an interior portfolio section so keep checking back and let us know what you think. If you want to receive updates as I post them, just click on the little radio wave looking button in your search bar and you can subscribe to the blog feed.

It’s been a while since we’ve been lucky enough to get a shipment of Bonny Doon products but it’s here! All my favorite soaps and lotions are back, Rose Geranium, Lavender, and Lemon Verbena, along with their wonderful sprays and a new Goat’s milk soap. Opening the box was a super delicious experience! The scent is just amazing. We’ll be adding some new luxurious Maris Naturals products as well so be sure to stop in and treat yourself or pick up a few to keep around for impromptu “thank you” or “thinking of you” gifts!

If you’re looking for a way to add a tiny bit of beauty to your home or office, or trying to brighten up a sad little corner somewhere, our mini plant worlds are perfect! We have them scattered about the studio in all kinds of containers, shapes and sizes. They’re extremely low maintenance, requiring squirt bottle “watering” once a week at the most. Being able to watch them grow and change is part of what makes them so charming.

On a side note, I was reading on SF Gate that a long-time Mission District bookstore had sent a letter to their clients saying that they may have to close if they couldn’t raise funds to pay their bills. In essence, they were soliciting donations to stay afloat. I thought this was a brave, humble and honest thing to do. If you’ve read our blog before, you know I’m as up front with my clients as I can be as I feel everyone that hires us to work on their homes and gardens, or shops here, is a vital part of our business. We hear so often that we are loved (thank you!) and that you don’t want us to disappear (thank you again!) and we feel the same. It’s been a very tumultuous two years in this location and we are, like so many others, struggling. So we appeal to you to consider us whether you are considering redoing a room, changing your garden, buying flowers for yourself or someone else, choosing an office gift, or looking for a special something. We want to be here for you and continue to create beautiful things and with your continued support, we can!

We’re moving into the last half of 2010, as difficult as that is to believe. Our mindset is set to “hope” and we look forward to what the coming weeks, months and years may bring. We hope to stay on the journey with you!

Much love,

Melisa and Miranda
