It was a busy weekend for us with the fundraiser, the flea market and Alameda. I kept telling myself that if I could get through my overlapping activities everything would be unicorns and roses once again. It was so humbling to be a part of the Samaritan House’s chosen designers. In fact, I had a self-esteem meltdown pretty soon after I saw what the other participants were putting together. I’m not a table decorator by trade nor do I really know how many spoons, knives and strange ladles have to go on which side of the plate. I just like pretty things. It’s as simple as that.
We’re in the Local Papers!
We are so excited about the table design we’re doing for the upcoming Samaritan House fundraiser. The theme of our table is “Nature in Bloom”. I’ve changed my china pattern and my mind too many times to count but I do know that I’m covering my table in blanket moss and there will be a big tree coming from the center of it. We’re hoping our table inspires people to come visit our wonderful, eclectic little mad science lab.
Best,
Melisa
The Garlikov Naming Ceremony
I was incredibly honored to be asked to design flowers for Julie and Andy Garlikov’s daughter’s naming ceremony. Though I am not well-versed on important Jewish traditions, I knew that it was an intimate day where family and friends would come together to celebrate their child.
Thank You Friends
Thank you to all who helped celebrate our 1 year anniversary May 1st. It is always so much fun to see all of our different friends coming together to share food, fun and laughter. While the past year has been a huge learning experience and we have all been through many changes, I am continually amazed by the people who come into our lives every week.
Happy 1st Birthday Apartment 46!
We’ve made it a full year! Granted, not one step of it has been easy but EVERY step of it has been blessed. Thank you to all of my wonderful clients/friends who have made it so incredibly worthwhile. It seems impossible that I could have met so many wonderful people just by collecting things I love but I’m so grateful for it!
Exciting New Lines!
You might have noticed that I’ve been absent for a little while but rest assured, all is well at Apartment 46! I recently attended the San Francisco International Gift Fair (SGIF) to hunt for new and unique products. To say that the show is overwhelming is an understatement, however, it was easy to focus when I stayed true to the philosophy of the shop: It must be beautiful, natural, creative, unique, and bring the buyer joy. Lastly, but probably most importantly, I also have to love it!
